The process of the storyboard and animatic was one of the major stages that contained the type of shots used as well as the preparation of shots we were going to use whilst filming. I was given a real media trailer of the film "Evil Dead", which I then had to cut each time they changed a shot. The main purpose of this activity was, to create a template we could later on use for our final product. Furthermore while cutting the "Evil Dead" trailer I used the first time Final Cut, which I tried to explore on its basics. Furthermore our school technician gave us brief tutorial about the main functions of Final Cut. After finishing to cut the trailer, I then had to draw out each individual shot where I had to decide what type of shot it is as well as what the audience will be able to see in the shot. Lastly, I had to scan all the pages I drew out, crop the images and then put them as a layer over the shot in the real media trailer. I were supposed to leave the original sound in the background.

ANIMATIC TRAILER
But what actually is an Animatic?
Animatics are animated storyboards. They are used for various purposes depending on the medium for which they are being produced. Animatics are used every day in the advertising industry to test commercials. They're used to preview scenes of live-action films before they are shot. You'll also find animatics in the pre-production stages of animation and in the video game industry. It is aiming for to give the user a template and order of various shots.

This is the Animatic video. I used the shots I drew up (upper part on this page) and put them similar like a layer in Photoshop, over the real media trailer of the film "Evil Dead".
