There are a variety of horror films and make-up tutorials that thoroughly inspired the make-up we would display in our trailer. We would not be doing any major make-up and or costume enhancement as our trailer doesn't really need that many. We would however be putting tremendous work in our costume and make-up section.
We will also be showcasing our own work that we produced using costume and make-up. All make-up were purchased from "Angels Fancy Dress" costume shop at central London, whilst costumes and props where bought from different distributors. I hope you enjoy this page.

MAKE-UP INSPIRATIONS.
Below you will find the make-up tutorials and real media texts that inspired the costume and make-up for this trailer.
TRAILER INSPIRATIONS.
AS ABOVE SO BELOWThe make-up used in this trailer is close matching to what we would like show in our trailer. The make-up used in this trailer and in the whole movie is quite simplistic but very effective and this is what we would like in our trailers such as simple cuts and burns. We believe that this and more will be effective in our trailer, which is why we picked this trailer.

SAW IVWe liked this trailer because of the make-up that is used we believe we would like to captivate some of the make-up used in this trailer although they are quite intense in the make-up we do really like the horror element and what the 'Saw' movies represent which tends to be torture and that is what our trailer is about and what it really signifies.
|
ICHI THE KILLERWe particularly liked this trailer because of the Chelsea Smile used on Ichi. What we found particularly interesting was the fact that the Chelsea Smile which is normally inflicted on the victims rather than the antagonist. In this trailer there are tons of blood and gore which is much expected from a splatter movie, which really does work a lot.
|
EVIL DEADThis is the Evil Dead trailer. Reason this was chosen was because of the horrific make-up and costume used in the trailer and that is what we are trying to go for in our trailer, especially since our trailer is part of the Slasher genre, the more blood, the better. We decided to use couple elements from this trailer such as bruises and cuts.

MAKE-UP TUTORIALS.
|
|
EXPERIMENTS...
Here I made a tutorial on how to make a fake cut. The items purchased where from a really well respected costume shop called 'Angels Fancy Dress' in Covent Garden. Doing this tutorial was quite easy as I practised a few times before recording it. This technique takes roughly about 5-10 minutes to get done, especially if you're doing it for the first time, but the more you practice the quicker you will be able to get it done.
|
Here I made a tutorial of a fake burn. essentially I was going to make a Chelsea Smile using latex and loads of tissue but it didn't quite work, so therefore I tried to make it look like a burn however in the trailer I will be using wax to make the fake burn as I had seen it is much quicker and much more efficient. The fake burn as I said primarily is very realistic and it connotes that the victim was taken against their will in order to be tortured.

PROPS...
The main prop we were going for was a scythe, this is because our costume was inspired by the grim reaper himself so therefore we wanted our cult member to have his characteristics especially his costume and prop even the way pictures are taken of the grim reaper. We wanted our cult member to portray the grim reaper in the best way possible. However we did think that having other props could be essential, props such as a knife or an axe are props that you tend to see in horror movies, so we consider using other props however, we want our trailer to be original thus why we will be purchasing a scythe which isn't used in much horror movies.
CHARACTER PROFILING...
CHARLIEThe character "Charlie" will be played by Diana. Charlie is the final girl of the movie, who allows herself to be captured in order to save her friends. Charlie's costume is all about simplicity, she wears normal tops, jeans and boots. She focuses on her education and lover friends, so doesn't really have time for boys.
JUSTINE
The character "Justine" will be played by Kiera. Justine is the stereotypical Alpha female, who is more focused on her looks, friends and social status than the important things in life. Justine is very popular, but is best friends with Charlie as they have known each other for years. Justine also has a thing for Dion. Her costume consists of a crop top, tight jeans, high heels, big earrings and heavy make-up.
|
MAXThe character "Max" will be played by Eugene. Max is the stereotypical "stoner" in horror movies, instead focusing on his studies his heart longs for cigarettes and his Nikon, taking pictures everywhere he goes. Max's costume would be simple and casual, his costume would consist of a white tee, black hood, jeans and trainers. His costume reflects his personality.
DIONThe character "Dion" will be played by Jacob. Jacob is the stereotypical Alpha Male who is adored by everyone (including the audience). Dion is very athletic, plays a lot of sport and is very talented, he lives, breathes and sleeps in the gym making sure he looks very attractive. Dion does love to watch his appearance similarly to Justine. ~Dion and Justine are currently a couple. Dion's costume will consist of matching tracksuits and trainers.

CULT MEMBER
THE MAIN ANTAGONIST! Cult members will be dressed in black cloaks and will carry weapons. Main leader carries a scythe.
These are pictures of one of the cult member wearing his costume. I decided to experiment by taking pictures of him in the cloak and the weapon inside and outside so I can see how well it work in the light and how effective it will be. The quality of the fabric is really elegant because it doesn't come across as cheap.
COSTUME, PROP AND MAKE-UP TESTING!!
In this slide show you would see some of the experiments I partook in order to make my make-up look successful on the actual trailer. I had to purchase some the make-up I used from Angels Fancy Dress costume shop in order to achieve these looks. The cuts on the wrists were very easy to do as I perfected it on my trial, however the fake burn wasn't really a success as latex is quite hard to work with, in the actual trailer i would probably reconsider and use wax! Enjoy!

After the test we went around the college seeing how people would react to the make-up done. The reaction we got were exactly what we anticipated for. The more realistic the audience believed it to be the better because that would mean that they would enjoy our trailer because they wouldn't really render anything as 'fake'! The quality of this video is quite poor as I haven't done much work with a video camera, however it was really fun doing this because it allowed me to interact with my audience a bit more and show some of Fadeke's... 'weird' acting skills.
