INSPIRATIONS
In this section of sound is inspirations. To create a perfect sound track you need inspirations from other existing sound tracks whether it be films or theme tunes to a TV show. Therefore I have chosen 6 sound tracks that I had found on YouTube, which one of them I had used them in the audience research stage, plus I explain why those sound tracks are inspiring for me while picking key features from the sound track that stands out that I would try and emulate in our film trailer itself
Background music inspirations
the reason why I had chosen this for inspiration is due the slow pace of the melody and the fact that there is more or less like background music going on behind the melody as though somebody is there which creates fear as nobody would know what the sound is, which would enhance our sound editing
|
Voice over folly sounds
The reason why I had chosen this as inspirations is due to the crescendo of the music. Where the main focus is the background music with different effects as though your in a place somewhere making it more effective for like an establishing shot |
Cultist chants
The reason why i had chosen this for inspiration is mainly for the cult and Charlie to symbolize a connection between the two as there is chains in the background repenting time which reflects on the synopsis greatly, plus the fact that the female chorus are dominant which adds to the breakage of the classical conventions |
Secrect Circle Theme Song
The reason why I had chosen this for inspiration is due to the pace of the track and the repeated melody with random in time voice overs which is also repeated. Also it is as though things are going on in the back ground therefore builds tension and keeps the audience wanted to view/hear more
|
Cult voice chants
The reason why I had chosen this is the same reason why I had chosen the Pains Theme Song, but instead of the female voices, the male voices are dominant. The sound is sutle but contradicts to the acting that they take on the friends, which in for of conventions it is yet again breaking conventions
|
cult chants
The reason why I had chosen this for inspiration is due to the cultist chanting that occurs during the sound track. It is repeated which makes it more effective and going at a steady pace also. As the track progresses the sound gets louder and the chanting becomes more apart of the background music, setting tension and makes the audience impatient

TRAILER SOUND INSPIRATIONS
In this subsection I have four trailer inspirations on sound that I find useful, in terms of sound effects, as a template for the effects. I have explained the key features that I love about them and home to adapt to our trailer too. I picked up different sub genres as well so that I can get a wider exploration pool to work with.
Thud and Drones
The thuds and drones in the movie trailer martyrs play the key part in the sound editing for the trailer as it makes the audience jump when the thuds are loud, smooth and sharp especially. another asset to our trailer as we do want the effect of making our audience jump before they even see the antagonist or the protagonist.

|
Voice Over
The voice over is inspiring as it is deep, slow and creepy which is an effective voice over for a horror movie, hearing the tone of the voice itself it will make the audience shake and wonder what will happen next. this would be good for our trailer as a voice over effect as it will add to the trailer make it gruesome, dark and mysterious
|
Sound EFX
The sound effects in this trailer is our main template for precision. The trailer sound edit is an inspiration due to the precision to the actions that are occurring in each of the shots, giving us as Catacombs Studios and eye opener that precision is key when adding any kind of effect whether it is sound or another aspect in post production

TRAILER SOUNDS AND EDITS
in this section I had done an edit on our anematic trailer an the template trailer that got given to Catacombs Studios for the precision of our trailer, which the trailer given to us was 'Evil Dead'. the edits that I had made to them obviously concerns the sounds/sound effects. For evil dead i simply removed the initial sound track and placed my own sound on it through a selection that I had thought would work well from a wide range of sounds to choose from and used to sound sound track for the evil dead that i had edited, for our anematic, as the cuts would be the same in the first place there fore it would match. this was just to get a feel on how to use final cut to add our sound to our trailer, it is basic sounds and fades and in general just a first draft that I would edit upon, cut, piece together and all sorts for a great final sound track.
TRAILER WITH EDITED SOUND TRACKthis is the original trailer with the edited sound that had been done on final cut. the original sound (as on the right clip)) had been deleted and another sound track from different instrumentals have been added.
|
TRAILER WITH ORIGINAL SOUND TRACKThis is the original trailer with the original sound track to the trailer of Evil Dead ( which was our template trailer for editing and cuts) which the films was released April 5th 2013 in the US under the production companies of; Tristar Pictures, FilmDistrict and Ghost house pictures.
|
TRAILER ANEMATIC WITH DRAFTED SOUND TRACK
This is the anematic trailer with a drafted sound piece as the sound track which was edited using instrumentals given to us and put together on final cut
|
TRAILER ANEMATIC WITH EVIL DEAD SOUND TRACK
this is the anematic that was done over the evil dead trailer no editing occurred as you can hear the evil dead trailer as the sound
|
FINAL CUT TUTORIALS
In this section I got tutorials on how to do various effect on final cut that will be beneficial for our sound editing and i explain why and where it will be useful
|
Damped Sound Effect
the damped sound effect will b very useful in the editing process of our film process 'The Cult' as the damped sound effect edit would build suspension as continuation of a sound would make it mandatory and dialogue such as screaming and talking between characters will be necessary to be heard. So the sound would then act as a background sound instead of fore ground and useful to confuse the audience, instead of loud sounds to connote danger as usual conventions are, muffled sounds mixed with loud sounds will symbolize danger and leave the audience to expect the unexpected through the sound tracks.
|
Creating A Voice Over
creating an effective voice over is highly useful as our target audience did say that they would like to hear voice overs in the trailer as well as reading the captions. so this tutorial shows how to create a voice over in final cut software and how to adjust it so that the voice for the voice over is then heard and not under shadowing the music, not bee too loud, not too low and more importantly not high of a pitch This voice over would be great for things like verbal narration and things focusing on the cult as building up tension and suspense, for example, heavy breathing or actual dialogue like 'don't touch' 'Please' and so on.

Radio Sound Effects
Radio effect would be an asset to the sound effect to the sound track that will go with the trailer as music played from the radio itself as it is a convention to frighten the audience in the sense that you don't know where the sound is coming from and almost acts as a Chekhov Gun due to once the sound is played the audience surely knows that nothing good is coming next in the trailer or the movie itself. The ideas sprung from this is that in the beginning a cult chanting sound is what is played through the 'Radio' using this effect and shows the cult in another show which gives the audience fear from the beginning.
|
Demonic Voice Effect
This effect is using another software called Audacity, which I had installed on my laptop already. Using this software, it will be useful for demonic voices for the cults kind of chanting and setting the whole cultist scenery. giving our trailer the upper hand as using various software's for sound would probably boost up our mark as we are not just using the standard software final cut pro 7 which is given to us but also exploring others to add and enhance our trailer. the great thing is that I could be working from home on this software as I have it, which will speed up the process of sound, that I'm not just relying on the school mac provided

SCREEN GRABS OF FINAL CUT
In this section I have taken screen grabs on the software that I had used to do the drafting of sound editing that I had done for our anematic trailer and our template trailer which was evil dead. I had used final cut to do the drafting, and will still used final cut to do the official sound track editing. The ideas that I have gathered will require more software than final cut such as Audacity but still will be placed on final cut for the sound edit for the trailer.
SOUND TEST
in this section i have collected a range of sounds that we will put in, in our movie trailer. we picked the sounds that would be an asset and what is best for actions shot like running scenes and tutoring the victims and so on.
